WHO WE ARE

The Radiocarbon Collaborative is jointly supported by the US Forest Service, the W.M. Keck Carbon Cycle Accelerator Mass Spectrometer Facility at University of California, Irvine, and Michigan Technological University (MTU). Our organization is dedicated to advancing climate and carbon science by making radiocarbon analysis accessible, decipherable, and collaborative. We make radiocarbon analysis accessible to earth system scientists, and assist in data interpretation and manuscript preparation. We encourage all collaborators to archive their data in a publicly available database such as the International Soil Carbon Network.

GOALS OF THE RADIOCARBON COLLABORATIVE

  • Foster intensive radiocarbon use in ecological studies
  • Promote the use of statistically sound replication in radiocarbon datasets
  • Provide support and guidance for the proper interpretation of radiocarbon data
  • For examples of previously supported projects, please see our radiocarbon success stories

WHAT WE DO

  • Offer educational materials through our website to assist students and researchers in understanding the application of radiocarbon analysis to earth systems science
  • Help researchers connect with an appropriate graphite lab and offer cost-effective analysis of routine samples
  • Help researchers connect with a radiocarbon mentor to assist with applying radiocarbon to their research question correctly
